A Merry Overture Op 14
At Christmas 1954 Bo Linde finished the orchestral work that has become his most played non-solo piece - A Merry Ouverture. He dedicated the work to Gävleborgs läns orkesterförening (today named Gävle Symphony Orchestra). At the time of when A Merry Ouverture was written the young composer had initiated a lifelong companionship with the orchestra in his hometown. He had returned from Vienna in spring 1954 and by the time he finished opus 14 he had already made a lot of contact with the orchestra and its chief conductor Gunnar Staern. At the age of 21 he made his living as a musical critic in a local newspaper and as piano teacher.
Musica Concertante Op 27
As with a lot of Bo Linde's music his op 27 was commissioned by the Gävle orchestra. The manuscript is dated April 20, 1963 - at a time when Bo Linde was fairly well known to his hometown as one of a very few really serious artists. When the German magazine Industria portrayed the city of Gävle that very year he was the only artist mentioned.
Suite variée Op 21
Friends of Bo Linde and his family always called Suite variée the Bacardi Suite, which was the composer's own name when he wrote it during a long stay in Spain during the summer and early autumn of 1959. The Suite was premiered in Gävle in March 1960 and was called Suite variée. Nowdays the opus 21 suite is mostly called
Suite for small orchestra.
Suite Boulogne Op 32
During the second half of the 1960's Bo Linde's music matured, but he never really let go of the playful and very often humorous style that already from his teens played a vital role in his musical language. A very good example of is Suite Boulogne dedicated to the musicians of the little ensemble that used to play in the city park of Gävle every summer in the 1950's and the early 1960's.
